Practice Room FAQ
How long can I practice?
Within designated practice hours, you can practice WITHOUT time constraint.
Can I reserve a room for future use?
No, this is a real-time sign-in system. Once you reserve a room, you will have five minutes to enter it, close the door, and press the occupancy button.
Will I be able to see all the rooms on the sign-in screen?
You will only be able to see available rooms that you have access to. If you swipe your card at a kiosk and it shows that no rooms are available, it is either because all rooms are currently in use, or because you are not authorized to use any available rooms at that particular time.
What happens if I leave my ID in the room?
You will not be able to enter the room and will need to call security (ext. 246) to open the door.
How do I retrieve my belongings if I leave the room for longer than 15 minutes?
You can re-sign into the room if it is still available. If someone else has reserved the room, they can provide you access to retrieve your belongings.
What if I reserve a room that has someone else’s belongings in it?
The room is rightfully yours. You should leave their belongings as found and allow them to retrieve their belongings when they return.
What happens if I forget to bring my ID to school?
If you do not bring your ID, you will not be able to sign in to a practice room. Contact your program’s director for assistance.
What if a friend is in the room with me and he/she leaves the room? Will the system time me out?
You will need to close the door and press the occupancy button, or the lock will think the room is vacant.
Why should I enter my telephone number into the system?
Entering a phone number is highly recommended, but not required. The system can send you four possible text messages:
- Upon reservation, you will receive a text stating which room you reserved.
- After room reservation, if you do NOT enter the room correctly (enter within five minutes, close door, and press occupancy), you will receive a text notifying you that you have been signed out of the room.
- You can take up to a 15 minute break; after 10 minutes you will receive a five-minute warning text before being timed out of a room.
- After leaving the room for 15 minutes, you will receive a text notifying you that you have been signed out of the room
Will I have to enter my telephone number more than once?
No, the system will save it and you will always have the option to change or delete it.
What happens if I forget to press the occupancy button?
The lock will think the room is vacant and after the specified time (five minutes after reservation or 15 minutes after break) you will be signed out.
What happens if I press the occupancy button while the door is still open?
The lock will think the room is vacant and after the specified time (five minutes after reservation or 15 minutes after break) you will be signed out.
